On Friday, winter returned full force with snow and blizzard conditions. When we spoke with Ronald the following day, he reported the snow reached just below the kitchen windows, and five-foot drifts stood in the driveway.
Today, the calendar says "spring" and we've just begun to celebrate Easter. But maybe winter's keeping a firm grip, and the renewal we long for hasn't come, and regardless of the calendar, our hearts say "Lent." Some years, we're out of sync for whatever reason: waiting for something to end, or for something to begin. Hardship. Loss. Perhaps this is the reason why, according to the wisdom of mother Church, Resurrection Sunday is followed immediately by Divine Mercy Sunday.
